Colby Covington could not return to his winning ways at UFC Tampa against Joaquin Buckley, who won the bout by TKO (doctor's stoppage) in the final seconds of round three.
Because of his busy campaign for president-elect Donald Trump, Covington claimed after the bout that he was unable to adequately prepare for the fight and did not train as required.
Following the loss at Tampa, he was also seen playing poker. In a video that Full Violence posted to X, the former interim champion was seen leaving the poker table, apparently after losing:
"Colby took an L in a poker tournament right after Buckley 😭"

Chael Sonnen talks about Colby Covington's loss at UFC Tampa
Colby Covington lost for the second time in a row in his comeback fight this past weekend. He was brutally defeated by Joaquin Buckley at UFC Tampa.
In the first round of the bout, 'New Mansa' opened him up and left him bleeding. In round three, the cageside doctor inspected the injury over his right eye, after which he was declared unfit to continue.
Covington didn’t seem to be happy with this decision, and at the post-fight conference, UFC CEO Dana White also questioned the stoppage.
In contrast, UFC Hall of Famer Chael Sonnen, who was in his corner, had a totally different perspective on the stoppage.
In a YouTube video uploaded on YouTube, he said:
"I was going to stop that fight, I already grabbed the towel. When the doctor came in for the third time, and I’m watching that blood, it’s not stopping. It’s going into the eye, and that’s the only thing you’re really looking for...If it’s blinding the guy, it doesn’t matter if it’s a little or a lot…it’s the exact same thing. I said, ‘Hand me that towel, I’m stopping this.’"
